Elon Musk, the world’s richest businessman, forced the company to release details of his robot-operated account after he struck a deal to buy Twitter. He also threatened to cancel the deal if the details of the fake account were not disclosed. Since then, Twitter has launched a campaign to delete spam accounts.
Elon Musk is in favor of making Twitter transparent. Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, said the company should disclose the details of the fake account. Failure to provide information on the number of bot-operated accounts may result in cancellation of the deal. Following Musk’s threat, the company now announced that it was deleting 1 million spam accounts every day. Musk claims that five percent of Twitter’s total active users are fake accounts. However, the company did not specify how many accounts were deleted. Twitter has an estimated 20 million monthly active users. The figure could be much higher if five per cent of the accounts are fake, according to Musk.
Twitter, on the other hand, has started laying off employees after Musk hinted at a reduction. About 90 per cent of Twitter’s HR team was laid off. According to a Twitter announcement, 100 employees were fired from the HR team. When Elon Musk addressed Twitter employees online last month, he hinted at reducing the number of employees to reduce the company’s costs. It has been rumored that there will be massive layoffs on Twitter since then, but it has finally begun.
Earlier, the company had announced that the recruitment of new employees has been stopped, adding that the new recruitment has been kept off due to the demands of the new management and the financial condition of the company.
