– New policy of OTT platforms, see oil, see oil edge
– No OTT is willing to touch Karthik’s Freddy
Mumbai: With one after another Bollywood films flopping, the OTT platforms that used to beg money from the producers after seeing a big banner or the name of a well-known star, are now not ready to open their money bag. Hence, there is a flutter among the producers who believe that if the theatrical release doesn’t match, they can sell to OTT to recover the costs.
Even though Kartik Aryan’s Bhoolbhoolaiya Too is a superhit, his Freddy is finding it difficult to sell for a direct OTT release. Kangana’s Dhakad is also struggling to sell OTT. Taapsee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap’s Dobara has been forced into theaters before being sold for direct OTT release.
Earlier, the OTT deal was done before the theatrical release date of some films was decided and the expenses of the producers were cleared.
But, with 90% of Bollywood movies getting flopped in the last six months, we are starting to wonder why we are paying high prices for content that is not liked by the public even with OTT. According to the sources, Bunty Babli Two, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Prithviraj and Shamshera were all four films signed together by Yashraj. A banner like Yashraj and the presence of all the top stars made this deal at a very high price. But, unfortunately, the OTT platforms have been rocked after all these four films flopped so badly.
